Bikram Yoga

A challenging series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises, suitable for all ages and all levels of ability. It is exactly for you if:

  • You’re a beginner
  • You have injuries
  • You want results
  • You want to create more discipline in your life
  • You love to sweat!

This series was designed with the goals of strengthening every system in the body in order to prevent illness and injury, promote weight loss and limit the effects of aging. Each posture stretches, strengthens, and prepares specific muscles, ligaments, and joints needed for the next posture.

The Bikram method also stimulates the organs, glands, and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood to 100% of the body, restoring all systems to a healthy working order. The series of postures also improves concentration, patience, determination and self-control to increase mental clarity and reduce stress.

The classic series is every posture done twice. This is a luxurious 90 minutes. Pressed for time? We’ll help you get the healing in a powerful 60 minute version including all 26 postures.

Bikram Fusion

An approach to hatha yoga that builds on the Bikram sequence of poses to extend deeper into creating upper body strength. This style is for you if:

  • You’re a beginner
  • You seek to build upper body strength
  • You’re able to put weight on your arms/hands
  • You like a fast flowing pace
  • You want to build physical co-ordination.

This style emphasizes the relationship between breath and movement. You will get precise instructions for when to inhale and when to exhale.

Yin Yoga

Yin is unique in that it is not actually hatha yoga. It comes from the tradition of Tao Yoga. It focuses on long held poses, time to allow the muscles to relax, allowing the benefits of the posture to transfer to connective tissue, such as ligament, fascia, and even bone at the joints and throughout the body. Success in a Yin pose is finding patience and self-acceptance.

Creating a yoga practice

As we like to say at the studio, it’s not a yoga perfect, it’s a yoga practice. The ability to practice is an essential life skill. It takes practice to be a good friend, a good worker, a good artist, a good anything. In yoga we learn the elements of practice.

What keeps a yoga practice interesting is progress. That’s also why you will hear us talk about it as a journey. That’s a good metaphor for the changes you might seek in your postures and in your body, more importantly, as you make yoga part of your daily life.

It is both challenging and simple to create a practice.Practice might look like doing the same thing over and over from the outside, but far from it. Practice requires knowledge and study, yet presence in the moment. It requires being detailed and intricate over long periods of time. It requires the ability to confidently self-correct but with the humility of a student. Practice makes progress, but progress in the right direction requires intentional practice.

That’s why teachers are here, day after day, creating the space for your practice. That’s why you see us on our mat right next to yours. Developing. Practicing. Whatever style of yoga you choose, or however you mix it up, you are choosing to practice. It’s not about touching your toes, it’s what you learn on the way down. A yoga practice takes time to build.  Without purposefully scheduling yoga time into your busy life, you will rarely make time for it. Use the mental clarity you get from your yoga class to plan your yoga schedule.

Private Classes

We also offer private instruction. Students use private classes to accomplish various goals. Get individual attention on the alignment of all postures for example, or get help knowing which postures to focus for your specific intentions. Private classes are a great way to deepen your practice of yoga, giving you the knowledge to advance in your detailed attention to what you’re doing, and why.
